Assesment, Evaluation and Gamification Tools

The purpose of assessment is to gather relevant information about student performance or progress, or to determine student interests to make judgments about their learning process.

There are three types of assesment
1. Assesment for learning (Formative Assessment):It does not add to the final marks given for the unit; instead, it put into learning through given advice. Also, it points out what is good about the work and what is not?

2.Assesment of learning (Summative Assessment)
It shows the amount of learners’ success in meeting the assessment. Also, it contributes to the final marks given for the unit. These are conducted at the end of units. In Addition, it provides data for selection for the next level.
3.Assesment as learning
This type of assesment supports students’ metacognitive skills and help students to become lifelong learners. Students’ prior knowlegde should be used for new learning.

Assessment is defined as a process of appraising something or someone, i.e. the act of gauging the quality, value or importance. As against, evaluation focuses on making a judgment about values, numbers or performance of someone or something. Assessment is made to identify the level of performance of an individual, whereas evaluation is performed to determine the degree to which goals are attained.
The basic difference between assessment and evaluation lies in the orientation, i.e. while the assessment is process oriented, evaluation is product oriented.
To give an example:

When you take your child to a park;       if they measure the height of the child it is an assesment and the decision that is  made either she can use the facility or not is the evaluation.

Gamification
The gamification of learning is an educational approach to motivate students to learn by using video game design and game elements in learning environments. The goal is to maximize enjoyment and engagement through capturing the interest of learners and inspiring them to continue learning.
There are very useful and practical tools to help teachers in education.
Personally, I use these tools to make the learning experience more enjoyable and to motivate the students. When I use these tools I feel that students' interest are high and I can keep them engaged more during the lessons.

Finally, I would like to mention that https://learningapps.org/  is a very practical and useful tool to make teaching more effective, motivating and fun at the same time.
